1960s Updo Inspiration

Hey Ladies, Hope you all enjoyed the best friend tag with my friend Jackie. It started out as a Audrey Hepburn inspired up do but then we started talking about Mad Men and as I was teasing and pinning, it quickly turned into a Joan Holloway do.

For this look I simply:
- parted hair from ear to ear
- teased back section
- twisted top back section into a bun and twisted bottom back section into a french twist
- incorporated front parted section into the bun and pinned in place

check out the inspiration for this look on Beauty is a Thing of the Past blog http://beautyisathingofthepast.blogspot.ca/2009/02/cartwheel.html

My Vintage Pattern Collection

Hey Ladies,
I just saw Casey's amazing pattern thrift find on her blog http://blog.caseybrowndesigns.com/2012/05/pattern-windfall/
and thought it might be fun to share my pattern collection, though now small in comparison. I'd love to see yours as well, so if you're a fellow blogger leave a link in the comments.... even if you're not I'd love to hear your thoughts on my collection -  your favourites or any fabric suggestions.

Prom Inspiration: Then and Now

My Prom Dress 2007

My dress inspiration....

My dress was more simple. I loved the colour of Michelle's dress and wish I could have had a bit more drama to my dress, though I loved it all the same.

What would be my dress inspirations now?

Hair Flowers: The Brighter, The Bolder, The Better

My take on this huge spring trend. I fell for these beautiful flowers sent to me by Heather, the creator of Belle Blossoms (http://www.belleblossoms.com/). I'm wearing the rosebud side comb and I have a hundred and one ideas dancing in my head of how I'll wear them next.

Hair flowers have been seen on the beautiful starlettes of Hollywood's golden ages and worn again on vintage loving women today but now with the spring trends hair flowers have gone high fashion and mainstream. Check out my hairspiration for vintage style hair flowers with a modern twist.

As you can see, the new modern twist with hair flowers: more is more. Go for bold colours, layer flowers and texture to achieve these looks. While the single side flower will always be a classic, try purchasing a few flowers and have fun with placement. It's a fresh and flirty way to mix the old with the new
